California has the highest poverty rate in the US, based on the cost of housing, food, utilities, and clothing. With 12% of the American population, California is home to about one in four of the nation’s welfare recipients. The welfare state, supported by a massive bureaucracy of 883,000 full-time state and local employees, is incentivized to expand its ‘customer’ base by bringing in more and more welfare recipients, which includes illegal aliens. In short, California is the poverty capital of America because it is ruled by collectivists.
Illegal aliens are allowed to obtain drivers licenses, free in-state college education, free health care and much more. Over the past few years, 243,000 Californians left the state as refugees and took $8-billion in assets with them. They were replaced by a growing illegal-alien population, largely on welfare and with protected status. California State Assemblyman Travis Allen says 75% of Californians are against a sanctuary state, and 65% of Latinos also oppose it.
A ban on the possession on bullets purchased out-of-state takes effect January 1, 2018. In 2019, everyone who buys ammunition in California will be required to undergo a background check like those currently required for firearm sales. [The plan is clear. Rather than direct confiscation of firearms, which is unconstitutional, would-be tyrants are gradually increasing rules, regulations, fees, and restrictions so that, eventually, firearms will be confiscated by assessments and red tape.]
