Initially, the US Defense Department, the State Department, our intelligence services and NGOs used free speech on the internet as a strategy to support dissident groups around the world to overthrow authoritarian governments. However, after the Ukrainian coup in 2014, the people of Crimea voted to break away from Ukraine in a counter-revolution. NATO was unprepared. Free speech was then shut down.
NATO used the ‘Gerasimov Doctrine’ that, instead relying on military war in Central and Eastern Europe, advocated for control over the social media ecosystem to control elections.
NATO amended its Charter to commit ‘Hybrid Warfare’ that includes weaponized censorship. NATO did not fear a military invasion by Russia, but rather losing domestic elections in Europe to right-wing populist groups.
Populist right-wing movements popped up all over Europe in response to the migrant crisis and included Brexit, Germany’s Alternative for Deutschland (AfD), Matteo Salvini in Italy, Marine LePen in France and the Vox Party in Spain. They were censored and labeled Russian proxies. Trump was also targeted in the 2016 election.
These right-wing movements threatened the the EU and had the power to kill NATO without firing a shot. NATO is the enforcement arm of the UN International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the UN World Bank. The financial stakeholders who depend on NATO used the military to censor the internet.
The new enemy of NATO and the US State Department became the citizens of western countries, as censorship was unleashed and the security forces went to war against the people.
Misinformation, disinformation and malinformation may be considered cyber attacks on critical infrastructure of Democratic institutions. For instance, if online criticism of mail-in ballots undermined the public faith and confidence in our Democratic elections, it could be considered a cyber attack. Compare criticism of elections with the cyber crime taking down a power grid.
‘Democratic institutions’ later included the mainstream media in order to chill criticism against the legacy media.
Democracy was re-defined from a system representing the will of the people to instead mean the strength of Democratic institutions such as NATO, financial institutions, NGOs, the legacy media and more.

Tom Ball, did you know that Mike Benz was involved in the “alt-right” and went by the pseudonym Frame Games? He criticized Jewish power. Benz has been accused of Antisemitism. He pointed out that the organized protests against Starbucks over using their bathrooms were led by Jews. Benz support for Trump is the bigger issue.
