Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers extended his stay-at-home orders through May 26 and said, “things won’t get back to normal until there’s a vaccine and treatment for this disease”. However, Racine County Sheriff Christopher Schmaling says he will not enforce the orders, because state law “does not have the power to supersede or suspend the Constitutional rights of American citizens.” He urged the state’s health department to balance safety with allowing businesses to operate. He said, “I took an oath to uphold the constitutional rights of our citizens and I cannot in good faith participate in the destruction of Racine County businesses or interfere in the freedoms granted to all of us by our Constitution.” -GEG

Was just about to point this out. I am guessing, but I will bet my SS check that 95% of those who swear to uphold the Constitution have never read the document and would not understand it if they did!

Good on this Sheriff for standing up for his constituents. I only disagree with one part of his statement. Our Constitution doesn’t “grant” Rights, nor do governments. It recognizes them and identifies SOME of them. We know where our Rights come from and NO ONE can take them without our consent.

Agree, but it doesn’t “recognize” them, it was written to PROTECT them. But he does get partial credit.

THis is why the federal gov is willing to send moneys to people regardless of what they do (work or not). They are being bought off just like the two people interviewed who want to have the gov protect them by lockdown.

Its a tough battle uphill and doubtful we will win since many people want to be sheep and even more so for socialism. Unfortunately for all, once you get to that point there is no way out.
