He claimed that Ireland, Spain and Norway, are “legally obligated” to welcome Palestinians from Gaza because they falsely accused Israel over its actions in Gaza. In 2024, Ireland, Spain and Norway, formally recognised the Palestinian state. Canada has previously expressed willingness to take in residents from Gaza.
Ireland and Spain have rejected his proposal.
Republican Senator Rand Paul criticized Trump on X and wrote: “I thought we voted for America first. We have no business contemplating yet another occupation to doom our treasure and spill our soldiers blood.”
Trump campaigned on pledges he would avoid new foreign entanglements and “forever wars,” and Reuters/Ipsos polling shows only 15% of Republicans supported the idea of the US using military force to obtain new territory.

Their hypocrisy will be exposed if they refuse. Meanwhile, countries like Canada, which has a structured immigration program, have previously expressed willingness to take in residents from Gaza.
