Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko called an emergency session of his war cabinet and has asked parliament to impose martial law on the country for 60 days after Russia opened fire on Ukrainian ships, capturing three vessels and wounding three Ukrainian sailors.  Russia accused Ukraine of illegally entering an area of the Black Sea and deliberately provoking a conflict.  A 2003 treaty designates the Kerch Strait and Sea of Azov as shared territorial waters but Russia has been asserting greater control over the area since 2015 after it annexed Crimea.  Mariupol is close to the region of eastern Ukraine controlled by Russian-backed separatists in a conflict that has caused at least 10,000 deaths since 2014.

Jake Morphonios explains how the CIA, with the aid of George Soros, overthrew the pro-Russian government of Ukraine in 2014 and replaced it with a puppet government.  He says that Crimea, located in a strategic area, voted overwhelmingly to be annexed by Russia.  Russia has been building a bridge between Crimea and its mainland, and Ukraine’s ships interrupted construction.  Jake revealed a meeting between former CIA director and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and the foreign minister of Ukraine just nine days ago.  They discussed how to create conditions to justify the UN placing troops on the border of Russia to be used to fight pro-Russian forces to take back Crimea, Donetsk and the Donbass area that revolted after the CIA coup.  They specifically discussed that Russia was a threat in the Kerch Strait and days later, Ukraine sent ships into the Kerch Strait knowing it would prompt a military response from Russia.  Read the US Department of State document here.

Russia has opened fire on Ukrainian ships and captured three vessels in a major escalation of tensions off the coast of Crimea.

Three sailors have been wounded after the Ukrainian navy said two artillery boats were hit by the strikes in the Black Sea.

Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko called an emergency session of his war cabinet and has asked parliament to vote on whether to impose martial law on the country for 60 days.

Throwing his weight behind the measure, which is not guaranteed to pass, he said it “in no way means that Ukraine will carry out any offensive actions”.

“I want to emphasise separately that we have all irrefutable evidence that this aggression, this attack on the Ukrainian Navy’s warships was not a mistake, not an accident, but a deliberate action,” he added.

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) said it used weapons after the Ukrainian ships ignored demands to stop and that it impounded three vessels which had illegally crossed the border.
