Rand Paul’s ‘Penny Plan Budget’ bill would have cut $30 billion in spending by cutting one penny from every dollar over five years, delivering a balanced budget. He suggested that much of the cuts could have come from defense, education, and corporate welfare. He forced a vote on his fellow senators to show who the real conservatives are, and the Senate overwhelmingly rejected by 76 to 21. Click below for the list of 76 Senators, including RINOs (Republicans in name only), who have now been put on record voting for uncontrolled spending.

UPDATE: The motion to proceed on the Penny Plan Budget failed. Sen. Paul shared the roll call vote on his Twitter page.

On Thursday the Senate will vote to balance the budget – or not. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) predicted on Neil Cavuto’s Fox News show Wednesday that half of his Republican colleagues will show their true cowardly colors and vote against his Penny Plan Budget, which would cut about $30 billion in spending.

“When we have this vote tomorrow, half the Republicans in the Senate will show their true stripes, and they won’t vote to balance the budget, even though they say they`re for it,” Paul said. “When they’re home at the local rotary, they say they’re for it. So, really, you can`t give people courage. You can’t give people intestinal fortitude.”

“If Republicans come begging for your vote, they come begging for your contribution, and they say they’re going to balance the budget, and they don’t, there needs to be repercussions,” Paul added. “People need to be aware of who up here actually is a conservative and who up here actually is just playing a game.”
