Tor is a browser that claims to allow users complete anonymity and is used to navigate the dark web. The Tor Project, hailed as a bulwark against the encroaching surveillance state, has received funding from a US government agency called the BBG and, according to newly released documents, is cooperating with intelligence agencies. Tor has been endorsed by Julian Assange and Edward Snowden who claimed that the US government would not be able to subvert it. -GEG
