President Trump announced that he will send US troops to Afghanistan, will give more autonomy to military leaders, will encourage Pakistan to join the fighting in Afghanistan, and will continue to follow Obama’s withdrawal strategy (which is no withdrawal at all).  Ron Paul says that Trump has abandoned his campaign pledge to wind down our wars in the Middle East and that, in terms of foreign policy, the deep state has won. [Trump told us from the start that he can work with anyone and that he is good at making deals. Now we know what his side of the deal was.] –GEG

President Trump said his gut tells him to get out of Afghanistan, but after giving it some more thought — with the help of his generals — he’s decided to expand US military actions rather than to wind the war down. Were the conclusions leading him to make this decision based on solid analysis and fact? Not at all! The only thing really “new” about this new strategy is that it is now official policy to never tell what US objectives are in the country!
