Sports Announcer Pulled from University of Virginia Game Because His Name Is Robert Lee

The ESPN network confirmed that it moved an Asian-American announcer off the University of Virginia’s home-opener football game because his name is Robert Lee.  Even though Lee is a common Asian name, Reuters reported that the anchor actually is the namesake of General Lee, leader of the Confederate Army during the War Between the States. –GEG

On Tuesday ESPN announced they pulled “Robert Lee” from announcing the upcoming University of Virginia football game because his name is Robert Lee.

Robert Lee is Asian.

Retuers then tweeted out that Robert Lee was General Robert E. Lee’s “doppelganger.”
