St. Paul, Minnesota: At least 18 people were arrested during a protest following the acquittal of the police officer who fatally shot Philando Castile.  The protest drew an estimated 2,000 people, with 500 of them shutting down a major freeway.  The officer, Jeronimo Yanez, testified that Castile, who was high on Marijuana, failed to follow his commands and reached for his legal gun.  Two members of the jury that acquitted Yanez were black. –GEG

At least 18 people were arrested in Minnesota overnight during a protest that shut down a major highway, following the acquittal of the police officer who fatally shot Philando Castile.

Thousands of protesters gathered at the Minnesota State Capitol and marched through the streets of St. Paul on Friday night to decry the not guilty verdict returned by a jury in the manslaughter trial of former St. Anthony police officer Jeronimo Yanez. An estimated 2,000 people participated in the march, part of which shut down a major highway, according to the St. Paul Police Department.

Yanez, 29, shot Castile, 32, multiple times on July 6, 2016, seconds after the black motorist alerted the officer that he was carrying a gun, during the traffic stop. Castile had a permit for the weapon.

Yanez, who is Latino, was charged with second-degree manslaughter.

The mostly-white jury deliberated for some 29 hours over the course of five days this week before reaching the not guilty verdict. After the verdict was read Friday afternoon, the city of St. Anthony swiftly announced plans to dismiss Yanez, despite his acquittal. City officials said they would offer him a “voluntary separation” because they had determined “the public will be best served” if he is no longer an officer in St. Anthony.

Friday’s march remained largely peaceful. Seven people were arrested during the massive demonstration near the state Capitol and no injuries were reported, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

But as darkness fell, a smaller crowd splintered off from the march and walked down an entrance ramp to block Interstate 94. An estimated 500 protesters snarled traffic and forced police to shut down the freeway in both directions, the Minnesota State Patrol said.

Police ordered the protesters to disperse and the crowd eventually moved off I-94 mainlines and onto an entrance ramp. By early Saturday morning, at least 18 people had been arrested for failing to leave the freeway. They were booked at Ramsey County Jail, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The US allows an estimated 1-million people to immigrate to the US each year, but a new poll by Harvard-Harris shows that 81% of Americans want the number reduced. According to the poll, 65% of voters would support a DACA deal that secures the Southern border, ends Chain Migration, and eliminates the Visa Lottery. {Question: If most voters want immigration to be substantially reduced, why do the politicians they elect push for more immigration? The answer is obvious. Think about it.] […]

False Alerts Go Off in Hawaii and Japan- Coincidence — Or Beta Test?

January 19, 2018 The Truth Factory 0

The Truth-Factory cat suspects a hidden agenda behind the ‘accidental’ false alarm set off in Hawaii, and another one in Japan, within a week. She thinks it could have been a covert drill to test security-response systems and to gather information on how people react to the threat of a nuclear-missile attack, or it may have been a psy-op to scare people into supporting more military spending. It could have been malicious hacking of the security-alert systems by pranksters or hostile governments. As the ‘cat’ says in this analysis, you have to be dumber than toast to believe most official narratives. […]

BitConnect Shut Down – Ponzi Scheme Confirmed?

January 19, 2018 UK Metro 0

BitConnect has closed down its lending and trading platform. Many have called it a ponzi-scheme, because people would loan the anonymously-run site money in exchange for exorbitant interest, depending on the length of the loan. BitConnect’s platform was a multi-level referral system. The site claimed it earned revenue from day-trading crypto coins. The company blamed the closure on bad press, two cease-and-desist letters from securities authorities on the basis that it lacked proper registration, and perpetual DDoS (distributed denial-of-service) attacks on its servers.
