Swedish Prime Minister Summons Army Chief Following Surge in Gang Killings

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson summoned the head of the armed forces to help curb a surge in gang killings after a bloody 12 hours that saw two men shot dead in Stockholm and a 24-year-old woman killed in a blast at her home. Mr. Kristersson said Sweden had not seen anything like it before and that “no other country in Europe” was experiencing this kind of situation. Sweden has opened its borders to mass immigration for years, which is the root cause of conflict and violence in the country. Police have linked the violence to poor integration of immigrants, a widening gap between rich and poor and drug use.

An official government report published in 2021 stated that four in every million inhabitants were dying in shootings each year in Sweden – compared with 1.6 people per million across Europe.

Sweden’s prime minister has summoned the head of the armed forces to help curb a surge in gang killings.

The two men and the country’s police chief will meet on Friday to discuss what role the military could play.

It comes after a bloody 12 hours that saw two men shot dead in Stockholm and a 24-year-old woman killed in a blast at home in a town north of the capital.

“We will hunt the gangs down and we will defeat them,” PM Ulf Kristersson promised in a rare televised address.

Armed forces chief Micael Byden told Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter he was prepared to assist police efforts.

It is not clear exactly how the military might get involved but previous talks suggest soldiers may take over certain policing duties to allow officers to free up resources for crime-fighting.

Some critics have described the proposed measures as superficial, arguing they treat the symptoms rather than root causes of the violence.

So far this month, 12 people have been killed in gang violence – the highest number since December 2019, according to Dagens Nyheter.

Swedish media have connected the recent surge to a conflict involving a gang known as the Foxtrot network, which has been rocked by infighting and split into two rival factions.

Mr Kristersson said Sweden had not seen anything like it before and that “no other country in Europe” was experiencing this kind of situation.

He stressed that children and innocent bystanders were increasingly being caught up in violence across the country.

The overnight explosion in Fullero, some 80km (50 miles) north of Stockholm, killed a woman thought to be a neighbour of a person with connections to organised crime.

She went to sleep “on a completely ordinary evening but never got to wake up”, the prime minister said.

A few hours earlier, a man in his 20s was killed in shooting in Jordbro, just south of the capital, according to public broadcaster SVT.

Separately, an 18-year-old man was shot dead at around 19:00 (17:00 GMT) near a Stockholm sports ground that was full of people, SVT reported.

Last year, more than 60 people died in shootings in Sweden – the highest on record – and this year is set to be the same or worse.

An official government report published in 2021 stated that four in every million inhabitants were dying in shootings each year in Sweden – compared with 1.6 people per million across Europe.

Police have linked the violence to poor integration of immigrants, a widening gap between rich and poor and drug use.

Organized Assassins Claiming to be DEA Agents Murdered Haitian President

Haitian President Jovenel Moise, 53, was shot dead by unidentified attackers in his private residence after midnight on Wednesday morning, according to the government. Interim Prime Minister Claude Joseph said, “A group of unidentified individuals, some of them speaking Spanish, attacked the private residence of the president of the republic and thus fatally wounded the head of state.” Many fear that turmoil will escalate as food shortages and fuel shortages are looming for the impoverished nation where 60% of the population makes less than $2 a day. A wave of gang violence in Port-au-Prince has pitted armed groups against the police for control of the streets, turning many districts of the capital into no-go zones. More than 14,700 people have been displaced. A large swath of the civilian population had been calling for President Moise’s removal from office before the end of his term as he ruled by decree for the past year and was accused of being authoritarian.

UPDATE:   Haiti requested help to stabilize the country and secure critical infrastructure, including oil reserves, in the wake of the assassination of its president earlier this week. The US says it will not be sending troops into the Caribbean country. ABC  also reported that Haiti is one of only a handful of countries in the world that has yet to distribute a single dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Reports claim that President Moise was tortured by mercenaries.

UPDATE:  Authorities declared a “state of siege” and closed the airport. Police reported that 15 Colombians and the two Americans of Haitian origin who had resided in Florida were arrested. Three Colombians have been killed while eight others on the loose. American James Solages told investigators he had become involved after “finding the job on the internet” but had believed he was to work as an interpreter for the mostly foreign group, according to reports from Haitian media.

Update (1609ET): Haitian President Jovenel Moise was assassinated in an attack in the early hours of Wednesday at his private residence. Many are wondering how assassins penetrated the security perimeter of his heavily fortified home.

Perhaps new insight from The Miami Herald shows “assailants claimed to be agents with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, according to videos taken by people in the area of the president’s home.”

The Herald continued:

On the videos, someone with an American accent is heard yelling in English over a megaphone, “DEA operation. Everybody stand down. DEA operation. Everybody back up, stand down.”

However, sources told the newspaper that the assailants, one of whom spoke English, were not with DEA but rather imposters.

“These were mercenaries,” a high-ranking Haitian government official said.

Here’s the video:

Haitian President Jovenel Moise was shot dead by unidentified attackers in his private residence overnight in a “barbaric act” shortly after midnight on Wednesday morning the government said, stirring fears of escalating turmoil in the impoverished Caribbean nation.

New York: 96 Members of the Ultra-Violent MS-13 Gang Were Arrested Following a 2-Year Investigation

Long Island, New York: A two-year investigation led to the arrest of 96 members of the MS-13 gang, known for extreme violence and using machetes in killings and assaults. Charges include murder, murder conspiracy, drug trafficking, weapons possession and gang violence. Worldwide, 230 gang members were arrested and at least seven murder plots were interrupted. Police seized more than 10 kilograms of cocaine, more than 1,000 fentanyl pills, unspecified amounts of heroin and marijuana, nine handguns, two long guns, numerous machetes and more than $200,000 cash. The goal of the investigation was to deliver a major blow to the gang’s leadership, operations and recruitment in the region. The leadership of MS-13 in El Salvador is trying to develop a greater presence in Long Island.

MS-13, known as Mara Salvatrucha, originated decades ago among Salvadoran immigrants in Los Angeles and has since built a criminal network that extends across the US, with thriving pockets in the Washington, DC, suburbs and on Long Island. An official from the Drug Enforcement Administration said MS-13 had 8,000-10,000 members in the US and Europe and 50,000 members in Central America.

Authorities in New York have announced a wide-ranging investigation that resulted in criminal charges against 96 MS-13 gang members on Long Island.

The two-year investigation resulted in what Suffolk County District Attorney Timothy Sini called the biggest takedown of a street gang in New York state. The charges include murder, murder conspiracy, drug trafficking, weapons possession and gang violence.
“MS-13 is a ruthless, savage gang which commits acts of violence to recruit, retain and control its members and exact revenge on its rivals, as well as to extort innocent members of our community,” Sini said in a news release.
“They send portions of that money back to the leadership in their home base of El Salvador. Leaders in El Salvador run the gang by issuing orders to the local cliques here in Suffolk County.”
Worldwide, 230 gang members were arrested and at least seven murder plots were interrupted, Sini said.
Nine leaders of Suffolk County cliques, or factions of the gang, were arrested, Sini said. Seized were more than 10 kilograms of cocaine, more than 1,000 fentanyl pills, unspecified amounts of heroin and marijuana, nine handguns, two long guns, numerous machetes and more than $200,000 cash.

Leftist Website Portrays Brutal MS-13 Gang as Clean-Cut, Hard-Working Teeenagers

Following President Trump’s crackdown on immigration and gangs, the leftist website Vox produced a video portraying the MS-13 gang from El Salvador as responsible teenagers who ride bikes, listen to music, and work after school jobs. In truth, MS-13 is brutally violent and criminal. Timothy Sini, a Suffolk County, New York, District Attorney, says the gang was responsible for 17 hideous murders in his county during 2016 and part of 2017.

American Majority CEO Ned Ryun says the motto of MS-13 is “Kill, Rape and Control.”  In Suffolk County, New York, the gang was responsible for 40% of the murders from 2016 thru June 2017.  In addition to violence, drug trafficking, and murder, MS-13 is funded by sex trafficking of girls as young as 14. -GEG

AG Sessions: Domestic Violence and Gang Violence No Longer Qualify as Reason for Asylum

US Attorney General Jeff Sessions told immigration judges that domestic violence and gang violence will no longer qualify as reasons to grant asylum to immigrants. He stated that asylum was never meant to alleviate all serious problems that people have every day all over the world. This order closes a loophole that was used by the recent caravan of immigrants from Central America who demanded asylum based on gang violence.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced Monday domestic violence and gang violence no longer qualify as sufficient reasons to grant asylum to immigrants.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced this ruling at an annual 3-day conference of the Executive Officer for Immigration Review (EOIR) in Virginia.

In a speech to immigration judges Monday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, “It will be your duty to carry out this ruling.”

“Asylum was never meant to alleviate all problems, even all serious problems, that people face every day all over the world,” Sessions said.

Sessions also said in his speech that the American people voted for safe secure borders when they elected Trump in 2016:

“Let’s be clear: We have a goal. And that goal is to end the lawlessness that now exists in our immigration system. The American people have spoken. They have spoken in our laws and they have spoken in our elections. They want a safe, secure border and a lawful system of immigration that actually works and serves the national interest. Thank you for what you do, let’s deliver this for the American people.”

Asylum applications exploded under the Obama administration thanks to a dangerous ‘catch and release’ policy.

Obama’s failed policy created a surge in illegal immigration with thousands of migrants demanding asylum at the US-Mexico border every year.

In April, a huge caravan of illegal aliens from Central America marched their way through Mexico to the US border seeking citizenship, stating gang violence as their reason to be granted asylum.
