Summary by JW Williams

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu came back into power several in January and formed a coalition government with the extreme far-right influenced by Meir Kahana. Hundreds of thousands of Israelis have been protesting since the beginning of the year when Netanyahu announced plans to curb the power of the judiciary. Netanyahu fired Defense Minister Yoav Gallant in March after he opposed changing the judicial system. assive protests ensued, including strikes.

The proposed changes would limit the Supreme Court’s powers to rule against the legislature and the executive, giving the Israeli parliament (Knesset) the power to override Supreme Court decisions with a simple majority of 61 votes out of 120. A second proposal would take away the Supreme Court’s authority to review the legality of Israel’s Basic Laws, which function as the country’s constitution.

President Biden made a statement calling for compromise and called Netanyahu’s proposed judicial reforms “anti-democratic”. Netanyahu suspended the judicial overhaul. At the same time, under pressure to give something to his coalition, he agreed to create a national guard to be overseen by extremist Itamar Ben-Gvir, who aims to expel every Palestinian and to get rid of all Christian churches and Islamic mosques.

Last month, a new bill proposed banning the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ under threat of up to two years in jail. Netanyahu said that Israel “will not advance any law against the Christian community,” but he has made no moves to repeal a law already on the books that bans proselytizing children.

Parliament recently voted to bar Israel’s Supreme Court from deeming Netanyahu unfit for office due to criminal corruption charges against him.

Video footage recorded in 2011 shows Netanyahu saying America won’t get in our way..it’s easily moved.”

What’s the connection? Prevent the Israeli SC from ability to mess with the Israeli constitution AND removing Muslims and Christians from their area?

Those are supposedly tenets of the Netanyahu coalition WITHOUT any analysis of WHAT would drive those UNCONNECTED MOVES supposedly wanted by his group….. everything after that then becomes NONSENSE
