New York City Removing Statues of Presidents Thomas Jefferson and Theodore Roosevelt
The New York City Public Design Commission, appointed by the mayor, removed a statue of Thomas Jefferson because he owned slaves. In 2017, when statues of Confederate figures were targeted, former President Trump predicted that statues of Jefferson and Washington would face the axe. History is being erased.
