Many families would likely get smaller payouts, depending on their circumstances, the people said.
The American Civil Liberties Union, which represents families in one of the lawsuits, has identified about 5,500 children separated at the border over the course of the Trump administration, citing figures provided to it by the government. The number of families eligible under the potential settlement is expected to be smaller, the people said, as government officials aren’t sure how many will come forward. Around 940 claims have so far been filed by the families, the people said.
The total potential payout could be $1 billion or more.

The border is still out of control, and Congress refuses to change laws that would allow the US to deport illegal immigrants, like most other countries. In other words, the US government is the major cause of illegal immigration.
CA Governor Jerry Brown vetoed a bill that would have allowed illegal aliens to be employed by the government and he vetoed another bill that would have established a “fake news” advisory board. Activists went to state lawmakers’ offices and lobbied against both bills – and apparently were successful, despite discouragement from people on the internet.
Molina became a fugitive but now has been sentenced to fifteen years in prison. If he had made it to the border, there is an excellent chance he would have entered the US and been given benefits.

Why this is treason on Biden and his administrations part. The powers DELEGATED to the US President deals with mostly foreign affairs and making sure that our laws are executed as written, not to create laws. The authority to create laws that are binding on the American people was delegated to those who actually serve in, and are, House of Representatives, although the advice of the Senate can be asked, and ignored.
