Democrats Try to Blame Republicans for Unpopular ‘Defunding’ of Police

Wiki
Radical Progressive Democrats, including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortes, Ilhan Omar and Ayanna Pressley, supported “unrest” from BLM (here, here, and here) and have been pushing to ‘Defund the Police’ for a year while other Democrats remained silent. Last year, Kamala Harris said to “beware” that the violent BLM protests were not going to stop. Defunding the police has become unpopular as crime explodes. Democrats, with an eye on the 2022 midterm elections, are now trying to blame Republicans for defunding the police by accusing Republicans of rejecting the ‘Rescue America’ stimulus bill that leftists claim was to be used to fund the police. However, the legislation was intended for COVID-19 relief and the spending plan was not clearly defined.

White Hose Press Secretary Jen Psaki doubled down Wednesday on her embarrassing claim that Republicans are the ones defining police departments across the country, yet failed to name a single example when asked.

Fox News’s Peter Doocy refused to drop the matter, telling Psaki “You mentioned, at the last briefing, that you think Republicans wanted to defund the police because they did not support the American Rescue Plan.”

“Which Republican ever said that they did not like the American Rescue Plan because they wanted to defund the police?” Doocy asked, knowing that there are none.

Psaki ignored the core question, and claimed that Republicans have “stood in the way of crucial funding needed to prevent the laying off of police officers as crimes increased,” but Doocy continued.

“There are lots of examples of Democrats explicitly saying they want to defund the police,” the reporter asserted, adding “We’ve got Congresswoman Cori Bush, Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar.”

“Are there any examples of Republican members of Congress saying they want to defund the police?” Doocy again asked.

All Police, in metro areas, should just lateral or quit. Like Portland’s issue, let them all have at each other. In the Old West it was called ‘thinning out the herd.’
