Teams now are stopping travelers arriving in the city by train, requiring them to complete a health-status form, and advising that they face fines as high as $10,000 for failing to quarantine. Officials say that the effort relies on voluntary compliance – for now.
In a vote-by-mail system, a large percentage of voters, who otherwise might go to the polls, would not be able to vote. No one knows for sure what will happen to those undeliverable ballots, and it is not paranoia to believe that many of them will be mailed in by unknown partisan activists.
The new law would permit some voters, namely the elderly and those with physical disabilities, to request that someone else fill out and hand in their ballot, a practice Republicans repeatedly decried as illegal “ballot harvesting.”
Columnist Seth Barron says the lawsuit is being used to blame the NRA for the massive 200% increase in shootings, instead of Democrat policies such as releasing prisoners, eliminating bail, restricted police power, and cutting the budget of law enforcement.
