Malta: Assassination of Journalist Leads Prime Minister to Vow to Resign from Office as His Colleagues Are Suspects in Her Murder

Protesters blocked Maltese lawmakers from leaving parliament on Monday, calling for Prime Minister Muscat to resign immediately as three of his close associates are accused of being involved in the 2017 car bomb assassination of investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.

She was investigating secret bank accounts of some of Malta’s elite at the time of her murder. She posted incriminating information about politicians and underworld figures on her blog that regularly had more readers than the combined circulation of the country’s newspapers. Top Maltese officials are accused of being complicit in her murder as her personal police protection had been suspiciously pulled just before her death. The victim’s family believes Prime Minister Muscat’s long-time chief of staff is being protected from providing potentially damning testimony, which also saves Muscat himself from incrimination.

She had been mysteriously assassinated on Oct. 16, 2017 via car bomb in Malta’s most high profile crime in recent history. The 53-year old mother of three who led the Panama papers revelations and whose blog posts regularly had more readers than the combined circulation of the country’s newspapers, Daphne Caruana Galizia, had been commonly described as a “one-woman WikiLeaks” for being “a thorn in the side of both the establishment and underworld figures” in the EU’s smallest member state.

And now her case and prior prolific reporting has brought down Malta’s prime minister and top officials within his cabinet, as the AFP reports “Joseph Muscat will step down on January 18, party sources told AFP Saturday, following mounting criticism of his response to the murder of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.”

The slain journalist’s family had accused Muscat of playing “judge, jury, and executioner in an assassination investigation that so far implicates three of his closest colleagues.” Recent protests have rocked the small island Mediterranean nation and kept the case in international headlines as authorities have made progress in unraveling the murder, in a shocking Hollywood-scenario crime that increasingly points straight to the prime minister’s inner circle and business connections.

She made many powerful enemies and was subject of death threats over the years, also after she directly accused Prime Minister Muscat himself of corruption, when she revealed a string of secret Panama-based companies tied to Maltese politicians that served as fronts for various illegal schemes on her blog, Running Commentary, which had been frequently featured and amplified by WikiLeaks.

The circumstances of her death immediately invoked popular anger at top Maltese officials accused of being complicit given that personal police protection had been suspiciously pulled just before her death. As CNN describes:

Caruana Galizia died on October 16, 2017, when her rented Peugeot 108 was detonated by a remote control device on a country lane near her home in Bidnija, Malta. Her son Matthew Caruana Galizia, told CNN that she was driving a rental car at the time, out of fear that someone might target her car in an attempt to kill her.

Saturday’s announcement that Muscat will step down follows his chief of staff, Keith Schembri, along with two top ministers resigning their posts amid accusations they were involved in the killing.

Tucker Carlson Names the Wealthy Elites Who Are Responsible for Wrecking California

Tucker Carlson criticized a small group of left-wing mega-donors who are following the  George Soros model of replacing prosecutors with leftist radicals across the country. They are drowning local elections with tidal waves of cash and overthrowing the justice system.

In San Francisco, Chesa Boudin was narrowly elected to the office of district atorney; he dismisses the prosecution of gang members as ‘racist’, advocates for no-cash bail and plans to legalize public urination. He was funded by Silicon Valley’s ruling class, including billionaire Kaitlyn Krieger, the wife of the founder of Instagram, and Elizabeth Simons, the daughter of a billionaire hedge fund manager.

Carlson says the destruction of California has been paid for by the very rich, and in 2014, California passed Prop 47 that downgraded a long list of felonies to misdemeanors. Crime has surged, and violent crimes such as murders, assaults and rape have jumped by 115%!  Soros contributed nearly $2 million to pass Prop 47, and other contributors to this malicious legislation include B. Wayne Hughes Jr, a storage container fortune heir, Netfix CEO Reed Hastings, Nick Pritzker, former Facebook president Sean Parker, and Cari Tuna, the wife of Facebook co-founder Dustin Moskovitz.

ICE Catches Alleged Child Sexual Predator and Rapist, After He Was Released Back on the Streets by Philadelphia Police — Twice

Hector Moran-Espinoza, a Guatemalan citizen living in the US illegally, was arrested by the Philadelphia Police Department on two separate occasions on charges relating to the sexual abuse of children, including rape and and aggravated indecent assault. Both times, federal immigration authorities lodged a detainer request for Moran-Espinoza, but, both times, the Philadelphia Police ignored their requests and released him back into the community, according to ICE. Political leadership in Philadelphia, a Democratic stronghold, stands adamantly against cooperation with ICE.

  • The Philadelphia Police Department arrested Hector Moran-Espinoza, an illegal alien accused of heinous sexual abuse crimes against minors, on two different occasions.
  • Both times, the PPD chose to ignore a detainer request by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, choosing instead to release him back into the community.
  • Philadelphia, a sanctuary city that refuses to cooperate with federal immigration authorities, has chosen to release a growing number of illegal aliens accused of heinous crimes, despite ICE detainers.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were able to arrest an illegal alien accused of sexual abuse against children after local police refused to honor an ICE detainer and twice released him from their custody.

The Philadelphia Police Department arrested Hector Moran-Espinoza, a Guatemalan national living in the U.S. illegally, on two different occasions on charges relating to the sexual abuse of children. Both times, federal immigration authorities lodged a detainer request for Moran-Espinoza, but both times, Philadelphia Police ignored their requests and released him back into the community, according to a press release from ICE.

The PPD arrested Moran-Espinoza on April 2 for an eyebrow-raising list of charges: involuntary deviate sexual intercourse by forcible compulsion, unlawful contact with a minor-sexual offenses, statuary sexual assault, endangering the welfare of children-parent or guardian commits offense, indecent assault-without the consent of other person, rape by forceable compulsion, sexual abuse of children-photographing, videotaping, depicting on a computer or filming sexual acts, aggravated indecent assault without consent, corruption of minors, and reckless endangerment of another person.

ICE’s Philadelphia Enforcement and Removal Operations lodged an immigration detainer on the same day of Moran-Espinoza’s arrest, which asked PPD to hold onto him temporarily until ICE agents could arrive at the detention center and make an apprehension. However, the PPD chose to ignore the request and released Moran-Espinoza, according to ICE.
