NYC to Ban Hot Dogs and Processed Meat to Improve Climate

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio approved an ambitious $14 billion Green New Deal to combat climate change. The plan is supposed to cut purchases of processed red meat by 50% in its city-controlled facilities such as hospitals, schools, and correctional facilities. -GEG

New York City is the first city in the United States to eliminate processed meats.

Mayor Bill de Blasio approved an ambitious $14 billion Green New Deal
on Monday, April 22, to combat climate change. The plan will cut
purchases of red meat by 50 percent in its city-controlled facilities
such as hospitals, schools, and correctional facilities. The new
commitment builds off of the Meatless Mondays campaign that was adopted
by all NYC schools in 2017.

“It is a difficult plan. It is a necessary plan…. Estimates that
tell us that we have only 12 years to get it right. Let’s be clear, we
have until 2030 to change things fundamentally, or our lives won’t be
the same,” de Blasio said at an Earth Day event yesterday.

By 2030, New York City’s Green New Deal will reduce greenhouse
emissions by 30% while also creating new jobs. Additionally, all
buildings that are 25,000 square feet or more, of which there are 50,000
citywide, will be required to make efficiency upgrades that lower their
energy usage and emissions or they will face steep penalties.

Fake Hate: Jewish Family Staged Anti-Semitic Attack Against Themselves, Vandalized Own Business

Winnipeg, Canada: The three owners of the BerMax kosher cafe were arrested after calling the police and claiming that the female owner was assaulted and that the business was spray-painted with hate-related graffiti by attackers. Police believe that the report of the robbery was staged and that the property damage was also falsely reported as being done by outside suspects. -GEG

The Jewish owners of a kosher cafe in Winnipeg have been charged by police for staging a violent attack against themselves and spray-painting their own business with antisemitic graffiti.

Their cafe was the target of repeated antisemitic vandalism the past few months.

From The Canadian Press:

What looked like an anti-Semitic attack at a Winnipeg cafe
that drew public concern and political condemnation was not a hate crime
but an alleged sham staged by owners of the business, police said
Wednesday.

Officers responded last Thursday to a report that a woman who worked at
the BerMax Caffe and Bistro was assaulted and that the business was
vandalized and spray-painted with hate-related graffiti. It was the
night before Passover.

After a lengthy investigation involving 25 officers and 1,000 hours of
investigative work, police said they charged the three owners of the
cafe — including the woman who was reportedly assaulted — with public
mischief.

Police announced on Facebook they arrested BerMax Caffe and Bistro owners Alexander Berent, 56, Oxana Berent, 48 and Maxim Berent, 29.

These individuals are all owners of the café. They are each
charged with one count of Public Mischief and released. Public Mischief
(CCC 140 (1)) occurs when an individual, with intent to mislead, causes a
peace officer to enter on or continue an investigation based on a false
statement or causing another person to be suspected of having committed
an offence to divert suspicion from themselves.

Investigators believe that the initial report of a robbery was staged.
Further, the anti-semitic graffiti and vandalism were also falsely
reported as being done by outside suspects.

“The restaurant
was founded in 2015 by the Berent family – Jewish-Ukrainian immigrants
who came to Canada in 2005 by way of Israel – and was operated by Oxana
Berent and her son, Maxim,” CJN reports.

Transgender Teen Gets Court Order Against Father for ‘Misgendering’ Her

A British Columbia Supreme Court justice issued a court order to force the father of a 14-year old biological girl who is transitioning to a male to stop “misgendering” the youth. The father countered that the move would violate his rights to free speech and thought. The father’s appeal is slated to be heard by B.C. Court of Appeals on May 14. At stake is a precedent set by last month’s ruling that children have a right to transition and parents must respect their chosen gender, pronouns, and name. -GEG

“I find that his father’s expressions of rejection of AB’s gender identity constitutes family violence.”

A transgender teenager last week convinced a Canadian judge to make his dad stop “misgendering” him.

In the April 15 protection order,
British Columbia Supreme Court Justice Francesca Marzari’s said the
father was “harming his child” by refusing to accept his male gender
identity. She barred him from continuing to “misgender” or “deadname”
the biological girl in public or private.

In court documents, the father was identified only as CD, and the 14-year-old child was called AB.

“I
find that his father’s expressions of rejection of AB’s gender
identity, both publicly and privately, constitutes family violence
against AB,” Marzari said. “Finally, I find that CD’s conduct in this
regard is persistent and unlikely to cease in the absence of a clear
order to restrain it.”

Poway, California: Synagogue Shooter Killed One and Injured Four More

Poway, California: John Earnest, a white male, is the suspect in the synagogue shooting that killed a woman and left three more people injured. The shooting took place exactly six months after the Tree of Life Shooting in Pittsburgh. Authorities say they found Earnest’s manifesto that blames Jews for white genocide that he allegedly posted anonymously on 8chan. The author of this manifesto claimed that he burned a mosque in Escondido a week after the New Zealand shooting. -GEG

Several people were shot on Saturday at a San Diego synagogue. Police have one man in custody.

The shooting took place exactly six months after the Tree of Life Shooting in Pittsburgh.

One of the victims is said to be the synagogue’s Rabbi, Yisorel Goldstein, who founded the Chabad center in 1986.

There is at least one fatality.
The mayor of Poway is calling this a hate crime.

Police searched a home in San Diego today following the shooting.

We have come across what appears to be a
manifesto for the Poway synagogue shooter. He identifies as an anon from
8chan’s /pol/ board. He claims he was inspired by the Christchurch
shooting. His manifesto is filled with shitposting and should not be
taken literally. https://t.co/a3QlN8dsDy

California Mayor Admits Local Government Has “Lost Control” of 5G Rollout

Danville, California: The Town Council voted four to one to block a permit for an upcoming 5G wireless installation by Verizon, opening the town to possible lawsuits from the carrier. According to the FCC’s regulations, local governing bodies are not allowed to consider health risks when making decisions about 5G installations. Instead, cities and towns can only regulate cell sites based on the aesthetics and placement of the devices. Danville Mayor Robert Storer says that the federal government and its partners in Big Wireless have usurped local control of communities and that it’s time to take a stand – law suit or no law suit. -GEG

During a recent city council meeting the Mayor of Danville,
California admitted that the council had “lost control” of the 5G
rollout to the federal government and Big Wireless.

On March 6, the Danville Town Council voted four
to one to block a permit for an upcoming small cell wireless
installation by Verizon. During the meeting, Danville Mayor Robert
Storer stated that the vote was an effort to stand up to the federal
government and telecommunications companies, like Verizon.

The Danville Town Council’s decision to deny the
land use-permit for the small cell opens the town to possible lawsuits
from Verizon.

“We’ve made a lot of difficult decisions over the years, and this
one is right up there in my top three. But that is exactly why somebody
elects us to do the right things,”
Mayor Robert Storer said during the council meeting. “We’ve
lost local control and this says: ‘You know what? We are sick of this
and we’re not going to just sit here and be bulled over.’ We say no; we
play our cards out. We’ve been in lawsuits before.”

The installation of small cell sites is taking place around the
nation as the U.S. government and telecommunications companies roll out
5th Generation—or 5G—cellular technology. The
new technology is expected to herald the beginning of Smart Cities,
where driverless cars, pollution sensors, cell phones, traffic lights,
and thousands of other devices interact in what is known as “The Internet of Things”.
However, there have been a number of health and privacy concerns raised
by opponents of the rapidly advancing 5G technology expansion.

The controversial vote came after the Town Council had been inundated
with complaints and concerns from Danville residents who worry the new
small cell site and other 5G related infrastructure could have negative
health effects. The installation of small cells and other 5G
infrastructure is opposed by Danville Citizens for Responsible Growth (DCRG), a local group who has been putting pressure on the Town Council since at least October 2018.

That month the Danville Planning Commission approved a land-use
permit for the small cell site owned by Verizon. On November 2, DCRG
filed an appeal challenging the approval. The group has been battling
Danville officials since and was successful in convincing most of the
council to vote against the permit. However, despite many of Danville’s
residents expressing concerns regarding health, the council voted
against the permit because the chosen location was intrusive.

“Harmless” Painkillers Like Ibuprofen Now Linked to Huge Increase in Risk of Sudden Heart Attack

A new study linked non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) drugs such as ibuprofen and diclofenac with an increase in cardiac arrest. Research data showed painkiller use was linked to a 31% higher risk of cardiac arrest in patients. NSAIDs should be used with caution and for a valid indication.

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen and diclofenac were associated with increased odds of cardiac arrest, according to a recent study. Researchers at the Copenhagen University in Denmark examined patient data from the Danish Cardiac Arrest Registry
and identified 3, 376 patients who took a painkiller 30 days before the
health incident. Ibuprofen was the most commonly used painkiller in
this cohort at 51 percent, followed by diclofenac at 22 percent.
Research data showed painkiller use was linked to a 31 percent higher risk of cardiac arrest in patients. In particular, ibuprofen and diclofenac were associated with a 31 percent and 50 percent increased odds of cardiac arrest, respectively.

“Allowing these drugs to be purchased without a prescription, and
without any advice or restrictions, sends a message to the public that
they must be safe. The findings are a stark reminder that NSAIDs are not
harmless. Diclofenac and ibuprofen, both commonly used drugs, were
associated with significantly increased risk of cardiac arrest. NSAIDs
should be used with caution and for a valid indication. They should
probably be avoided in patients with cardiovascular disease or many
cardiovascular risk factors,” said Cardiology Professor Gunnar H.
Gislason.

The results were published in the journal Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy.

Judge Accuses Kim Foxx’s Office of Double Standard in Prosecuting False Report Case

Illinois: A Cook County judge accused Kim Foxx’s office of a double standard in pursuing charges in a false report case after dropping the charges against Jussie Smollett.

A Cook County judge accused Kim Foxx’s office of a double standard
for pursuing charges in a false report case after dropping the charges
against Jussie Smollett.

Judge Marc Martin called the prosecutors out during an April, 11 hearing for pursuing charges against Candace Clark.

According to a transcript obtained by FOX 32,
Judge Martin stated, “I’d like to know why Ms. Clark is being treated
differently than Jussie Smollett. It’s a disorderly conduct case. A lot
less egregious than Mr. Smollett’s case. I have a problem with it.”

Clark,
21, was accused of giving an acquaintance access to her bank account
and then reported that money stolen, which she denies. Prosecutors are
looking for her to make full restitution and serve deferred prosecution,
something Smollett was not forced to do.

“Ms. Clark is not a
movie star, she doesn’t have a high-priced lawyer,” Judge Martin
continued. “And this smells big time. Your office created this mess.
There’s no publicity on this case. Press gets ahold of this; it’ll be
the newspaper.”

Court Documents Show that 7,819 Boy Scouts Troop Leaders Abused 12,254 Victims

More than 7,800 individuals allegedly abused 12,254 victims, according to court testimony.  Sexual abuse settlements that have already been agreed to have pushed the organization to the brink of bankruptcy. New York state has passed a law changing the statute of limitations so that victims of long-ago sexual abuse can sue for damages. Similar bills are pending in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and California.

This is a very difficult article for me to write.  As a young child I was a member of the Cub Scouts, and I still have very fond memories from those days.  Throughout my life I always had a tremendous amount of respect for the Boy Scouts, and so it greatly saddened me to learn about the abuse that has been running rampant in that organization.  Of course this is just a very small part of a much larger trend that is plaguing our society, but if this kind of abuse is pervasive even among the Boy Scouts, what organization is truly safe for America’s kids?  Have we gotten to the point as a society where our children are literally not safe anywhere?

According to ABC News,
court documents that were just released indicate that 12,254 victims
were abused by 7,819 Boy Scout troop leaders over the years…

An expert who has been working with the Boy Scouts revealed that
there may have been as many as 7,819 allegedly sexually abusive troop
leaders and volunteers in the storied organization, according to newly
released court documents.

More than 7,800 individuals allegedly abused 12,254 victims, according to the court testimony.

This is what can happen when a society has absolutely no moral foundation whatsoever.
These days, many Americans seem to believe that our country will be
turned in the right direction if we can just get the correct political
leaders into place, but that is not true at all.

No political solution is going to fix this kind of evil.  Our core problems are moral and spiritual in nature, and most people don’t seem to understand that.

A lawyer named Jeff Anderson is searching for even more Boy Scout victims, and he says that his firm has already identified 130 perpetrators in New York and 50 in New Jersey

Attorney Jeff Anderson said Tuesday that he’s identified 130
perpetrators of child sex abuse in the Boy Scouts of America in New
York. Anderson and Greg Gianforcaro’s law firm also announced they’ve
identified 50 other Boy Scout leaders in New Jersey who have been
accused of sexual misconduct with minors.

The names stem from the Boy Scouts’ so-called “Perversion Files.”
During a morning press conference, Anderson said, “This is far from
complete. The work has just begun.”

In the end, this scandal could end up destroying the Boy Scouts, and
that is truly sad because they were a pillar of American society during
the post-World War II era.

Feds Raid Baltimore Mayor’s Two Homes and City Hall in Corruption Probe

Baltimore Democrat Mayor Catherine Pugh is under investigation by the FBI and IRS as she is alleged to have used her position to secure contracts for the University of Maryland Medical System and managed-care consortium Kaiser Permanente in exchange for the organizations buying her children’s book series, Healthy Holly, for $500,000 over several years.

As one of the most absurd corruption scandals in recent American
memory continues to snowball, agents from the FBI and IRS on Thursday
raided two homes owned by Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh, as well as
city hall, presumably in connection with the “children’s book”
corruption scandal that has inflamed tensions in the city and prompted
calls for Pugh to resign immediately.

According to AP, Dave Fitz, an FBI spokesman from the agency’s Baltimore office, said the agents were “executing court-authorized search warrants” but couldn’t release any more details because the warrants were sealed. On April 1, Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan asked state prosecutors to begin a criminal investigation into what appears to be a brazen kickback scheme involving sales of Pugh’s “Healthy Holly” book series. Agents also raided a non-profit with which Pugh has been associated.

Yes, you read that right. The mayor of Baltimore has been accused of
using her position to secure contracts worth hundreds of thousands of
dollars from the University of Maryland Medical System and managed-care
consortium KaiserPermanente. The contracts were agreements to buy
thousands of copies of Pugh’s “Healthy Holly” books, a series written by
Pugh.

Pugh was sitting on the organization’s board when she received the
contract from the University of Maryland system. And shortly after she
received a payment from KaiserPermanente, the company received a $48 million contract from the city.
Though we’re sure that’s just a coincidence. Furthermore, some of the
“Healthy Holly” copies that Pugh sold to the University of Maryland
Medical System remain unaccounted for, and some suspect they may never
have been printed.

Massachusetts Judge Indicted on Charges of Obstructing Justice by Protecting Twice-Deported Criminal

Massachusetts: Judge Shelley Richmond Joseph and a court official have been indicted by federal officials who accuse them of conspiring to prevent immigration agents from arresting an illegal alien drug suspect by helping him to slip out the back door of the courthouse. The suspect had been deported twice before and was banned from entering the US until 2027.

A Massachusetts trial judge and a court official have been
indicted by federal officials who say they conspired to keep immigration
agents from arresting a twice-deported drug suspect banned from
entering the U.S. until 2027.

U.S. Attorney Andrew E. Lelling accused
the judge and official of preventing an ICE agent from detaining a drug
suspect in April 2018, stating that both the judge and the suspect’s
attorney were recorded discussing how to keep the suspect away from the
agent.

The suspect, who was picked up by Newton police on drug charges, was
deported in 2003 and 2007 and was not allowed to enter the U.S. again
until 2027.

“…ICE is going to pick him up if he walks out the front door. But I
think the best thing for us to do is clear the fugitive issue, release
him on a personal [bond], and hope that he can avoid ICE… That’s the
best I can do,” the attorney allegedly said on the court recording.

The judge reportedly responded, “ICE is gonna get him? What if we detain him?”

The suspect later avoided ICE after he was released without bail and
escorted out by the court official who used his security card to open a
rear exit door for him to leave, according to federal officials.

“This case is about the rule of law,” Lelling said. “The allegations
in today’s indictment involve obstruction by a sitting judge, that is
intentional interference with the enforcement of federal law, and that
is a crime.”

New Haven, Connecticut: Two Black Police Officers Shot at an Unarmed Black Couple in Red Honda

New Haven, Connecticut: Hundreds of people protested for six days following the police shooting by Hamden Police Officer Devin Eaton, who pulled over a red Honda Civic and shot at the car. Passenger Stephanie Washington, 22, sustained non-life threatening injuries. Yale Officer Terrance Pollock also fired shots at the vehicle. The driver of the car was initially suspected in an attempted armed robbery in Hamden.

NEW HAVEN — Hours after Yale University released the identity of its police officer involved in the controversial shooting this week on Dixwell Avenue, several hundred people — mostly college students — staged a protest Thursday night near the campus.

A group of more than 200 people, many of them Yale
students, shut down the university’s major commercial area on York
Street Thursday night, blocking traffic on all sides.

“Police violence is a crisis in our state,” community organizer Kerry Ellington said.

Earlier on Thursday, Yale said in a statement that Terrance Pollock, a 16-year veteran of the department, was its officer involved in the shooting.

Pollock had been patrolling campus in the Science Park
area early Tuesday when he responded to help a Hamden police officer who
“appears to have been looking for a vehicle based on a 911 call
reporting that a person driving the vehicle had a gun,” Yale officials
said in a statement.

Hamden police identified Devin Eaton as the officer involved from their community on Wednesday.

Eaton and Pollock fired after the driver of the vehicle “exited the
vehicle in an abrupt manner,” Connecticut State Police Trooper Josue
Dorelus said Tuesday.

Stephanie Washington, 22, was shot. She was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Activists gathered Thursday night to demand that Pollock
and Eaton be fired by their respective departments, that all relevant
footage be released to the public immediately and for the resulting
investigation to be independent and transparent.

But Hamden Police Capt. Ronald Smith said in a news
release late Thursday that the Hamden Police Department “cannot release
any video and/or audio recording” related to the shooting, at the
request of State’s Attorney Patrick Griffin.

“The purpose of this directive is to ensure the integrity of the investigation,” Smith said.

He added that the department intends to be transparent with Hamden and New Haven residents, as well as the media.

“We plan to release this information as soon as the
State’s Attorney’s Office advises us that the release will not interfere
with the ongoing investigation,” Smith said.

Many of the speakers at the rally in front of Woodbridge
Hall on Wall Street affiliated with Yale demanded to know why tuition
dollars were funding an officer who would shoot two city residents
outside of the university’s campus.
