Dickinson, Texas: Hurricane Victims Must Promise to Not Boycott Israel to Receive Aid

The city of Dickinson, Texas, requires Hurricane Harvey victims to sign an agreement to not boycott Israel as a condition of receiving aid. City and county government agencies also are requiring employees and contractors to reject boycotts of Israel.  All 50 state governors, both Democrat and Republican, have condemned the BDS (boycott, divestiture and sanctions) movement, and 21 state governments have passed laws making it illegal to boycott Israel. The promise not to boycott Israel is vague and, in some cases may include a prohibition against writing negative comments about Israel on social media. -GEG

Professor Claims Math, Algebra and Geometry Promote ‘White Privilege’

Rochelle Gutierrez is a math professor at the University of Illinois who claims that algebra and geometry perpetuate “white privilege” because Greek terms honor Caucasians. She also believes that evaluations for math perpetuates discrimination against minority students if they fall behind their white counterparts. -GEG

A University of Illinois math professor believes that algebra and geometry perpetuate “white privilege” because Greek terms give Caucasians unearned credit for the subject.

But that isn’t the professor’s only complaint. She also believes that evaluations for math proficiency perpetuates discrimination against minority students, if they do worse than their white counterparts.

Rochelle Gutierrez argues in a newly published math education book for teachers that they must be aware of the identity politics surrounding the subject of mathematics.

“On many levels, mathematics itself operates as Whiteness,” she argues with complete sincerity, according to Campus Reform. “Who gets credit for doing and developing mathematics, who is capable in mathematics, and who is seen as part of the mathematical community is generally viewed as White.”

Gutierrez argues that subjects like algebra and geometry, which relate to arithmetic, also perpetuate racism and white privilege. She worries that “curricula emphasizing terms like Pythagorean theorem and pi perpetuate a perception that mathematics was largely developed by Greeks and other Europeans.”

Gutierrez claims that the importance of math skills in the real world also places what she calls an “unearned privilege” for those who are good at it. Because most math teachers in the United States are white, white people stand to benefit from their grasp of the subject disproportionate to members of other races.

“Are we really that smart just because we do mathematics?” she asks, raising the question as to why math professors get more grants than “social studies or English” professors.

“If one is not viewed as mathematical, there will always be a sense of inferiority that can be summoned,” she says, claiming that minorities “have experienced microaggressions from participating in math classrooms… [where people are] judged by whether they can reason abstractly.”

Students Love the Trump Tax Plan When They Think It Came from Bernie Sanders

Students from George Washington University said they were disappointed with President Trump’s tax plan, but they changed their tune on the actual details when they were told the ideas were from Senator Bernie Sanders. These interviews show how students are indoctrinated by the media and their professors. -GEG

Students who said they were disappointed with President Trump’s tax plan changed their tune on the actual details after being told they were ideas from Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Cabot Phillips, media director at Campus Reform, joined “Fox & Friends” after interviewing the students at George Washington University.

The students were all for small business tax cuts when told it was a policy being pushed by the former Democrat presidential candidate. One female student even mentioned her family’s small business as a likely beneficiary.

“When they think the tax cuts are coming from a liberal candidate they’re suddenly compassionate, they’re wonderful, they’re beautiful, they’re common sense,” Phillips noted.

Dennis Prager Suing Google and YouTube on Allegations of Censorship

Dennis Prager who owns PragerU, a conservative digital media organization, is suing YouTube and its parent company, Google, over alleged censorship of their videos. The lawsuit claims that it gets more than 30 million visitors a day on YouTube, making the site so elemental to free speech in the digital age that it should be treated as a public forum, and adhere to laws governing free speech, instead of its own discretion. YouTube has repeatedly censored PragerU on their platform, restricting political video, and the company removed a video of “a Muslim man describing how he was raised to be anti-Semitic,” branding the video as “hate speech.” PragerU publishes conservative JudeoChristian material and says conservatives routinely face censorship. -GEG

PragerU, the conservative digital media organization from Dennis Prager, is suing YouTube and its parent Google over alleged censorship of their videos.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the lawsuit, which was filed on Monday, “says YouTube’s more than 30 million visitors a day make the site so elemental to free speech in the digital age that it should be treated as a public forum.”

“The suit argues the site must use the ‘laws governing free speech,’ not its own discretion, to make decisions about what to censor,” they reported, adding that PragerU “alleges that by limiting access to some of its videos without clear criteria YouTube is infringing on PragerU’s First Amendment rights.”

YouTube has repeatedly censored PragerU on their platform, labeling political videos as “restricted” adult content and even removing a video of “a Muslim man describing how he was raised to be anti-Semitic,” branding the video as “hate speech.”

After being criticized for their censorship of PragerU videos, YouTube blamed “community flagging.”
